Commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the death of Carmen Hernández

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the death of Carmen Hernández, co-initiator of the Neocatechumenal Way with Kiko Argüello, a solemn Eucharist will be celebrated this Monday, July 19 at 8:00 p.m. in Madrid, which will be presided by the Cardinal Archbishop of Madrid, Carlos Osoro.

The celebration will be attended by hundreds of brothers, mainly from the Neocatechumenal communities of Madrid, and will be concelebrated by numerous priests.

In the Eucharist, for which Carmen’s eternal rest will be prayed for, Carlos Metola, postulator of the cause, will deliver the formal petition to open her cause for beatification, once more than 16,000 pages have been collected, making up 70 volumes with personal writings, catechesis and other information about Carmen which has been compiled since her death.

The fifth anniversary of the death of Carmen Hernández coincides with the publication of her first official biography, whose author is the professor and doctor of Philosophy Aquilino Cayuela and edits the Library of Christian Authors.

In the years following the death of Carmen Hernández Barrera on July 19, 2016, in front of the numerous favors and graces obtained through her intercession and the thousands of visits to her grave, it was thought of to obtain documented information about her life and her contribution to the emergence and worldwide extension of the Neocatechumenal Way.
